Season ticket pricing at Spurs: THST update

Since Season Ticket pricing for next season was announced, we have been in frequent contact with the Club, passing on fan feedback and pushing the points we made in our statement on Tuesday. That is our job as a Supporters’ Trust.

We want to update you on what we have heard in response.

What we, and fans who have contacted the Club individually, have been told is that there is no like-for-like seat comparison anywhere within the new stadium as spectators will have the benefit of improved facilities compared to the old White Hart Lane. This leads the Club to reject the view that Season Ticket prices have risen at all.

Some fans will be paying £880 more than they did at White Hart Lane if they wish to continue having a seat on the side. Fans watching from behind the goal will have to pay at least £200 more than they did at White Hart Lane. In any terms those are price rises.

The Club says it has received little or no complaint about pricing, other than from people in the old East Stand at White Hart Lane who, it says, benefited from a discount for several years. It does acknowledge receiving complaints about the phasing process, particularly around the arrangements of 'parents and children' windows.

It has suggested we are making negative assumptions about the premium-lite 1882 offering in the new South Stand – an offer that was never discussed with us. The Club invited us to clarify our stance and we have done so. We make no assumptions about personality traits based upon income. What we do know is how fan movement around corporate areas in football stadia works, which is why we have questioned placing these sections in the middle of the home end. We would have pointed this out to the Club prior to the announcement if we had been given the opportunity to do so.

We are confident our stance reflects the views of the many fans who have been in touch with us this week. The amount of feedback we have had is unprecedented.

We remain committed to a full dialogue with the Club as soon as it is ready to properly address supporter concerns. In the meantime, we will be considering other methods of encouraging change. While £50 deposits for Season Tickets start being taken on Monday, there is still time for the Club to reconsider before the 16 May deadline for full payment.

We also note there is an online petition running to give fans an opportunity to register their views.
