As part of THST’s “Fans and Football First” push for positive change and genuine supporter involvement in the running of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, we have collaborated with fellow Spurs fans to produce a heartfelt message to the Club’s Board.
‘Dear Board’ is a filmed open letter, conceived and directed by a multi-award-winning creative team and featuring the voices of Spurs fans. It aims to rally the Club’s supporters behind a unifying call for change.
‘Dear Board’ is a filmed open letter, conceived and directed by a multi-award-winning creative team and featuring the voices of Spurs fans. It aims to rally the Club’s supporters behind a unifying call for change.
The film has been directed by EMMY award-winning filmmaker Kevin Thomas of Thomas Thomas Films. Scripting and conception came from Dan Cole of Havas whose work as a copywriter and creative director has won him awards at Cannes. Input from Tom Knox, executive partner at Mullenlowe Group, and Charlie Whelan, former political director of Unite and spokesperson for Gordon Brown, was also invaluable.
Front and centre of the film are Spurs fans, who deliver a message calling for change that embeds fans and football at the heart of our Club’s decision-making process. The message comes as the whole of English football is undergoing a period of profound change after the fan-led backlash to plans for a breakaway league, and continuing anger over the direction the game is being taken in.
In the film, fans show why the relationship between the Club and its support is more than just transactional. Among those showing that passion has its place are some well-known supporters including local MP David Lammy; author Paolo Hewitt; Rob White, son of legendary double-winner John White and a member of the Supporters’ Trust Board; commercials director and podcaster Theo Delaney; and local councillor John Bevan.
The film is produced in association with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust, the largest independent supporter group at the Club. THST is working with supporter groups nationally and the Government’s fan-led review into football governance to secure genuine supporter representation at Board level. Details of what the Trust is campaigning for and why can be found on our website.
Over the coming days, we will be revealing support from more well-known Spurs fans as we keep the momentum for real change rolling.
THST would like to thank everyone who has helped make this film, and we’d especially like to thank supporters everywhere who, by raising their voices, have created the chance to shape our Club’s future for the better.
You can watch ‘Dear Board’ below, or on our You Tube channel.
We hope it strikes a chord with fellow supporters and that you’ll support its message by sharing the film and using hashtags #FansAndFootballFirst #StandUpForSpurs and #TrustTheFans.
