Spurs fans are largely satisfied with the match day atmosphere at White Hart Lane, and like the efforts made to boost visual displays of support with flags and banners. And there’s still very strong support for a safe standing area in the Club's new stadium.
The latest Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust (THST) end-of-season survey, completed by more than 1,600 fans across June & July, shows that 70% were satisfied with the match-day atmosphere at White Hart Lane last term.

Just 11% believed flags and banners made no difference to the atmosphere on match days with 68% acknowledging their contribution towards making the stadium less sterile and more interesting.
And 79% said they would like specific sections of Wembley - where Spurs will play Champions League games next season - reserved for fans who wanted to be more vocal or visual with their displays. A further 63% said they would consider sitting in such an area. The Club has already suggested four blocks at the national stadium as sections where more vocal supporters can congregate, as well as designating the West side of the ground as the ‘home’ end.
Meanwhile 74% were satisfied with the atmosphere generated by Tottenham Hotspur fans at away games.
Some 67% said they wanted to see a safe standing area in our new stadium, with a further 20% saying they would like to see the possibility considered. Of those who called for such an area, 63% believed tickets for this section should cost less than a regular seat, with just 1% believing it should cost more. And 64% of respondents would consider buying a ticket in a safe standing area.
The majority of supporters are happy with the stewarding at White Hart Lane with 72% saying they were satisfied and 54% satisfied with policing. Away matches followed the same theme, with only 11% dissatisfied with policing and just 6% dissatisfied with stewarding.
Fans were also asked for their opinion on how to improve the atmosphere at White Hart Lane. "No need, WHL already has the best atmosphere of any Premier League ground,” said one.
Another said: “If there was consistent pricing in all areas of the ground, it may entice people to move from the South and spread the atmosphere to the West, East and Paxton stands.” Other statements included: “Get rid of Stub Hub, far too many ‘tourists’ in the ground”, “a standing section for fans who wish to sing and create an atmosphere”, “flags and banners behind both goals” and one supporter added: “free beer at half time.”
These findings will help us with our work in the coming year. We’ll continue to work with our Club, host clubs and the authorities to improve the experience of our fans at matches, and we’ll also carry on supporting and encouraging fans to become involved with flag and banner displays.
And we’ll continue to push for the legislative change needed to allow our Club to introduce safe standing at our new stadium. There’s a clear demand for these from supporters and, with one of the biggest stadiums in Europe, Celtic Park, now incorporating a safe standing section with the backing of the Scottish government, the case for legislative change is compelling.
